The HUmorous Version
If you are perusing this portfolio with the intention of selecting a particular piece or pieces for purchase let me first tell you how much I love you. There can be no doubt that you are one of the greatest people alive on the planet today and surely you excel in whatever activities you pursue professionally and personally. If you are already my friend this makes much sense, if you are not, then let's be friends please. Especially if you buy something, and most especially if you buy it for a lot of $$. In fact, now that I think about it, if you are my friend already, consider that friendship ended until you buy something, and if you are not my friend, but would like to become my friend, you may do so, if you choose to purchase something. Note that the strength and quality of said friendship will be directly proportional to the price paid for the selected piece as per the chart below.
Price paid PeR OBJECT                Friendship level
<$10                                                 casual acquaintance
$10-50                                               basic friend
 $50-100                                            friend
 $100-500                                          good friend
 $500-1000                                         best friend
>$1000                                               wife and/or husband material
With that understanding you may now browse to your heart's content. No pressure, but remember if you are already my friend, by reading this you understand that I have officially ended that friendship and if you want it back you will need to buy something. And, if you are not yet my friend, if you wish to become me friend you will need to buy something.
The Serious Version
First note that the font has changed to reflect the change in tone from joking/kidding to serious/somber.   All kidding aside (note: I never put "all" kidding aside, so let's say 99% kidding aside) thank you so much for showing interest in my microbiology themed art like objects. If you are my friend, for the record our friendship will not be in the least impacted if you buy something for any price or buy nothing. If you are not yet my friend, what are you waiting for, let's friend it up already.
If you do have interest in a particular piece let me know and we can talk about what format you would like to have it prepared in. If you order a print as a standard sized 8" x 10" or 5" x 7" picture, I hand make custom frames for each piece that can be painted or stained to match the art like object or to match whatever color you happen to like. I am open to just about anything including customizing any selected piece in whatever manner you desire. If you have an idea, no matter how crazy, let's talk. We can probably figure out a way to make it happen.
As far as price goes, that is a more difficult question and unfortunately I cannot give you an answer until I know exactly what it is you want. After you have decided on something we can talk about it. I will make whatever you order prior to payment so if you don't like the end result you can walk away with no money spent and no hard feelings from me. I enjoy the work and can find a home for any piece that is rejected for any reason or for no reason at all.
SOLD WORKS
Zinnia mold is the first ever microbiology themed art like object made by special request. A former colleague and still good friend was interested in a gift for a friend. After some discussion we settled on the idea of the Zinnia mold since it is her friends favorite flower, and, since this person is also a nerd, she is a big fan of molds. Combining the two things seemed like a natural fit and I had just the photomicrograph in mind to use. How hard could it really be? I remember thinking to myself at the time. Well, as it turns out, it can be quite hard. I had no idea what a Zinnia flower was but the micrograph I wanted to use of Rhizopus stolonifer (see below for original micrograph, which I always found fascinating because it looks so much like a mushroom. It is not, not even really all that closely related to one though of course still a fungi like a mushroom) was blue so I figured I will just find a blue Zinnia online and use that as the source of my flower. Unfortunately for me, there are no blue Zinnia, at least no naturally occurring ones. There is debate over the reality of the hybrid blue Zinnia you can find on line with some people believing they are just other Zinnia tinted with blue dye or that they are not really Zinnia at all. It is quite the scandal apparently in the massively popular world of Zinnia flower superfandom. I eventually found a blue Zinnia I could use and then had a whole bunch of other mishaps that kept amping up the difficulty level of the project. After much swearing and cursing I finally figured it out and am satisfied with the end result and hope the giftee is as well. I wanted to really make the Zinnia flowers pop from the image and I think they do, then again, I would think that wouldn't I? Hope you enjoy the picture for many years to come or until you have your next garage sale. LOL!
